this Helmet early 14th century, the “Sugar Loaf” Helmet is becoming a type of bascinet. The visor gives the option of full face protection or having it open for a wider range of vision. The brass cross is typical of the design of the period. Great helms with a more conical bowl were also called Sugar loaf helmets on account of their resemblance to a sugar loaf. This shape gained popularity by the early 14th century. This replica distinguishes itself in that it features a hinged visor. The helmet is hand-crafted out of 16 Gauge steel.
